The name Baluster is meant to underscore the fact that we are, first and foremost, a professional service firm that supports the legal community. Originally founded as Sound Legal Copy, Inc., Baluster Discovery has supported the legal community of the Pacific Northwest for over fifteen years.

    Mike began with Baluster in 2001 as a night shift production manager, after two years of long nights he was called on to develop Baluster’s imaging department. As the imaging department manager he created work flows, evaluated technologies, and was responsible for the daily management of several large scale scanning projects. In 2007 he seized the opportunity to become a partial owner and advance to his current role as President and CEO. His primary goal is to ensure that Baluster continues to offer their clients industry leading support and technology.

    He received his B.A. in Finance from Central Washington University.

    Ray Luedtke joined Baluster in 2002 as a Customer Service Representative where he was promoted to Account Manager after one year. During his time as an Account Manager he oversaw the growth and development of 40+ laws firms. Then in 2007, he became a partial owner and took control of the Sales Department. Ray still manages his territory while also overseeing the Sales team. He has managed thousands of large scale discovery matters in his 13 years in the litigation support industry. He has advised clients on how to effectively manage their e-discovery projects as law firms transition from paper centric to digital. Prior to joining Baluster he worked in Public Relations for the Seattle Mariners.

    Ray graduated with dual degrees Sports Management and Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.
  • Brad Sheffield

    Brad Sheffield has worked in the legal industry for 19 years, 15 of those in legal IT. He works to deliver and support the technology infrastructure to make sure Baluster can support our clients’ needs whether they are large scale printing, complex discovery or hosted review.

    Brad graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Social Sciences.
